Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale is an American professional player who plays for the Dallas Wings of the Women's National Basketball Association. She was a player for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the college level before being selected as the fifth pick overall by the Wings during the 2019 WNBA draft. Arike Ogunbowale is Milwaukee Wisconsin native born to Yolanda Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale (26) and Dare Ogunbowale(20) are her siblings. She was the youngest child of her family, and her parents spoilt her the most. Gregory Ogunbowale, her father was serving in the Nigerian Army quite a while. Ogunbowale comes from a family with ties to the sports world. Her brother Dare is a professional footballer and her mother Yolanda was a softball player at DePaul. Her aunt was a volleyball player at UAPB as was their cousin Endia Oliver too plays Volleyball in Tennessee State. Ogunbowale made the list of honors at her school three years in a row. She also received recognition for her accomplishments in high school, including various awards. Arike earned her degree in Divine Savior Holy Angels High School which is located within the town of Arike's birthplace. Arike also participated in three years of varsity football while she studied there. Her skills helped her win some stunning victories at her school. She finished her high school career with 73 starts in her career and lists her career's totals as 1,477 points and 739 rebound. Ogunbowale won gold medals in the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship, and the 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship. The USA Youth Olympic Team was announced as the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team on July 7, 2014. Ogunbowale was in her first collegiate seasons and was named to her ACC All-Freshman Team.
