Nadia Elena Comaneci

It was at the Montreal Olympic Games 1976 that she had one of the greatest moments in sports history - - the first-ever perfect 10, on the bars that were asymmetrical. In addition, Comaneci scored six more 10s perfect which made her 14 years old, the youngest Olympic medallist in every category. Nadia Comaneci managed to attract international attention and help Romania establish itself on the world map. The sporting icon made her a world-wide sensation after she scored a record-breaking score. The legend she created was legendary as well as helped make gymnastics a popular sport around the globe. Moreover, it changed the perception of women athletes by the public. Her performance at the Olympics is so significant that her toe step (release) and her step toe are named after her on the event uneven bars. Besides Olympics, she showed remarkable performances at both the World Championships and European Championships and was subsequently a living legend in the sport and amongst the top-known gymnasts the world could ever have. While in the US she was able to advertise sports products and model after leaving her native country. Nadia Nadia Nadia Nadia 2 Nadia
